The Subscale, a digital coffee dosing cup, is a marvel of modern design, combining a scale's precision with a cup's convenience. One of its standout features is its IPX-4 splash-resistant capability, which ensures that the electronic components are protected from water damage. However, the load sensor cannot be housed inside this enclosure to function and it must be sandwiched between the cup and the base.

Waterproof Features of the Subscale

The Subscale is crafted with a Tritan body, known for its durability and food-safe properties. It is designed to withstand exposure to liquids, making it safe for both hot and cold beverages. The IPX-4 rating indicates that the Subscale can handle splashes of water from any direction, allowing users to wash it under running water without fear of damaging the internal electronics. However, it is essential to note that the Subscale should not be submerged in water or placed in a dishwasher, as this could compromise its waterproof integrity.

The Load Sensor: Exposed Yet Essential

While the Subscale's body is splash-resistant, the load sensor, located between the base and the cup, remains exposed. This exposure can cause the sensor to get wet during washing, potentially affecting its readings. Water will not damage the sensor, but the water droplets on the sensor can affect the reading.

When water droplets contact the load sensor, they can cause slight inaccuracies in weight measurement, typically ranging from 0.1 to 0.3 grams. This is a minor deviation that is usually corrected once the sensor is dried. To maintain accuracy, users are advised to ensure the sensor is dry before taking measurements.
