Make sure you have well charged batteries for best resuts
Slowly warm your milk to 55-65°C (130°F- 150°F) for optimum sweetness and the best texture.
Use a narrow jug and ensure you have at least 40mm (1.5”) depth in the milk.
Start with the fine NanoScreen if it’s your first time, it’s a little bit easier.
Keep a steady hand and make very tiny movements and observe the reaction of the milk.
Start in the middle to aerate the milk in just 3-10 seconds. Listen to the gushing sound which means big bubbles are created.
Very slowly move towards the edge of the jug, make sure the NanoScreen is deep inside the milk and not near the surface. Now you no longer hear the gushing sound. Over time, the milk gets quieter and quieter as it is all turned into microfoam. Hold this position for 15 or until you feel the microfoam is homogenous.
Find the perfect position to keep a silent vortex in the milk. This pulls all the surface bubbles down.
A couple of practice attempts and a steady hand is all it takes.

Don’t

Don’t use cold milk if trying to create microfoam for latte art, it will end up too thick.
Don’t overheat the milk, it will taste burned and can leave marks in your jug.
Don’t start with too little milk, it is more challenging as big bubbles can easily form

Hold the handle in one hand and push the metal cap forward with two fingers while pulling the cap with the other hand.

Impeller Spinout

What do you do if the the NanoFoamer PRO doesn't make any foam and the milk is not hot enough?

If your NanoFoamer PRO did not create any foam and that milk ended up cool, you likely experienced a spinout or what we sometimes call a magnetic slip. If you pay attention, you'll also notice a high-pitched sound, and the milk stops churning when this happens.

The spinout happens when the magnets on the impeller lose traction with the magnets below the base as they quickly ramp up to 8000 RPM. When a spinout happens, the impeller stops spinning, and NanoFoamer PRO stops early.

The remedy is easy:

Make sure you press the lid on firmly before starting; this ensures the impeller is as low as possible inside the jug.
Loosen the shaft. The NanoFoamer PRO works best when the shaft is just finger-tight, as it allows the impeller to self-register easily.
Note that the shaft has a reverse thread, so you must loosen it clockwise. This feature ensures that it can never self-loosen in the jug, and you can freely leave it as loose as you wish when making microfoam.

Our first production run has several of the shafts slightly too tight so loosening them is a good idea anyway. Please watch the video below:

What is the difference between the NanoFoamer V2 & Lithium?

Both units have the same design and components, as shown on our web page. The differences are:

The V2 is powered by two AA batteries (not included) and has a top speed of about 3,000 RPM
The Lithium is rechargeable via USB-C, powered by a 3.7V built-in Lithium-Ion battery, and has a two-speed option: 4,000 RPM and 3,000 RPM when fully charged.

Best practices

Rinse and spin the NanoFoamer immediately after each use, either in a glass of water or directly under running water in the sink. This will prevent any milk from drying on the NanoScreen and the rotation will eject any residue.

Occasionally remove the NanoScreen and give it a scrub. We don't recommend removing the NanoScreen with each use as it may gradually loosen the fit.

Unclogging a NanoScreen

If your NanoScreen has become clogged with dry milk over time, take it off the impeller and soak it in lemon juice, or lemon and baking soda overnight. Then scrub with a stiff brush.

Get a fresh set

If your NanoScreens are clogged beyond repair and you feel it has become harder to create perfectly smooth microfoam, then maybe it is time to get a fresh set.
